Now
What I’m up to these days, as of May 2026. What’s this now?
Current focus
Working on the latest iteration of my portfolio website (my last one was from 2017).
Mentally preparing to stain my wraparound porch this summer…
I’ve spent the past couple years using Cursor as my main tool for agentic development at work. I prefer the process of approving updates one chunk at a time, and its autocomplete model is fantastic. However, I wanted to try a different approach for my personal development. I don’t do a consistent amount of coding in my free time, so a subscription-based model does not work for me. I’ve locked in a pretty good setup of Zed as my main editor, OpenCode Zen and OpenRouter for my providers, and Sublime Merge for working through changes. OpenCode and Pi are battling for supremacy as my coding harness.
I’ve enjoyed lately
- The Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman
- Somewhere Good - Tara Clerkin Trio
- Stephen’s Sausage Roll
- Playing Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven with my daughter
- AroundSquare begleri
- Zed + OpenCode Zen + JetBrains Mono
- Richmond Hill DGC
Work
I’m a senior software developer at PPK, where I’ve been building websites since 2011. Lately I’ve been getting up to speed with Craft CMS, since Craft is migrating its base framework from Yii to Laravel.
Anything else
I recently built a custom long bench/nook for the kitchen. My wife made some cushions with awesome banana print fabric. Our next project will be built-in bookshelves for the basement.
